Daniel “Dan” J. Stoddard has registered as a candidate for Sandoval County Commission, District 3.

When elected, Dan will:

• Prioritize lowering property taxes
• Support economic development
• Support and enhance community partnerships such as Law Enforcement and Fire & Rescue
• Prioritize the completion of Paseo Del Volcan

Dan has been a resident of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County for the past 15 years.  During his years here, Dan has served the community in several positions.  He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Ethics Ordinance Team, both under Sandoval County.  Dan was then elected to City Council, District 6, in 2020.  He served in that position until 2023 only stepping down to support his wife with health issues.

Prior to relocating to Sandoval County, Dan and his wife, Joy, lived in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico.  He served the community there in several capacities.  He was elected to Curry County Commission in 2009.  Dan was then elected to Clovis City Commission in 2010.  He served in both roles simultaneously until 2013.  In 2012, Dan was elected Curry County Vice Chair in 2012.

Dan is also invested in New Mexico and the communities in which he has lived.  While in Clovis, he served on the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce, and was the Director of the Clovis Music Festival for many years.  Dan also collaborated with leaders at Cannon Air Force Base and was given the distinct honor of being named the Cannon Air Force Base Honorary Commander for 2012.

Dan is a graduate of Leadership New Mexico, class of 2008, and New Mexico Local and State Government Program, class of 2013.  He also owned and operated several Assisted Living facilities from 2000 until his retirement in 2018.

In all of his areas of service, Dan has a proven track record of leadership, business management and social responsibility.
